![]() Here's pretty much the full spec: Free convert SVG to EPS (other conversions not relevant) small memory footprint safe and secure to use not demo/trial no ads or passing stuff on to third parties Mac OS X ( 10.6.8 ), NOT Windows or Linux. I have tried restarting Inkscape, to no avail. No Document Properties dialog window opens anywhere on either of my displays. Anyone got something good they can share? Bug Description On version 0.48 of Inkscape on OSX Mavericks (run via XQuartz), the command to open the Document Properties window results in no effect. So, I thought, why not ask the other Scribus users if they have any suggestions. The biggest problem Ive had with it is getting used to the window menu rather than using the top bar like an OS X app, so I inadvertently click into X11 frequently. When you open Inkscape for the first time youll notice that it looks like a Windows app. And I don't know which of the websites that offer the functionality really are safe and won't give my files and/or details to anyone who asks. X11/XQuartz is the bridge/translator for Mac users. I've looked on the search engines and through various forums but I keep finding Inkscape/Windows/Linux/ImageMagick/Not Free/etc. Close application and start using the EPS version. This may mean to check a checkbox with the label ‘file is executable’. Application saves EPS version to the same directory.ĥ. To be able to run it as a program, you need to allow your computer to execute it by (usually) right-clicking on the file and editing its properties. Preferably I'd like something where I can just, for example:Ĥ. already running makes my old iMac creak a bit).Īnd I know ImageMagick can do it but (from what I've been able to find out) it converts to a raster first before converting to an EPS which, to me, sort of defeats the object of using vectors in the first place, but maybe that's just me. The instructions say to instal Xquarts, reboot, download and install Inkscape, then set X11 settings but the only thing that comes up when I search. The installation instructions had me confused because I couldn't find where to do the X11 forwarding. I know I can use Inkscape to do it, and I've done so many times, but I'm after something that doesn't take up too many resources on my machine (I've only got 2GB RAM and Inkscape on OS X needs X11, or equivalent, to also be running - which along with Scribus + iTunes + Firefox + Mail etc. I can get the program to load, but it will not open files or let me manipulate images at all. a shell script or an internal config file inside the application bundle, and need to restore the original version). Can anyone point me to a good free Mac OS X application, or a free and safe website, where I can convert SVG files to EPS files quickly, safely, and easily? Re-installing is sort of a Windows Voodoo which usually doesn't achieve anything, at least with self-contained and fully relocatable application bundles as used on Mac OS X (unless you had intentionally edited e.g. It might happen that the file was saved while the Mac used a different monitor setup then at the time the file is reopened, and the screen coordinates retrieved from the Inkscape SVG file might represent a location not reachable due to above mentioned XQuartz conflict (with default System preferences for Spaces in Mission Control). When reopening such a file, Inkscape by default will attempt to open the document window with the same screen position and size as it had when saved (this behavior can be changed in Inkscape's preferences by the way). What could contribute to the known XQuartz problem: Documents saved in Inkscape as 'Inkscape SVG' file (the recommended default) do store the screen coordinates for the document window position and size in the file. Have been having a little play and following online tutorial to learn my way around and now can no longer open Document Properties or Preferences - at all. ![]() The recommended workaround for now (until fixed by Apple): Turn off "Displays have separate spaces" in Mission Control if you need to use X11 across multiple displays (requires a reboot). Ive installed Inkscape on Mac with XQuartz - all installed successfully. Bug #1244397 “ XQuartz on OS X 10.9 and later: limited support for multi-monitor setups”.Do you happen to use a dual-screen setup, or sometimes work with a second monitor attached? Based on some of the described symptoms (the one about the Inkscape document window being listed in the XQuartz 'Window' menu), it seems that the document window opens ok but outside of the visible screen area ("lost" in-between Spaces) - possibly due to a known conflict of X11/XQuartz with OS X 'Spaces' when used with multiple screens:
